GSMS pours that Croydon work after a site visit rather than from a copied square-metre menu, because foundations, driveways, patios, pathways, floor slabs and repairs sit on the same crew that also builds RC frame and formwork. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and completed construction is backed with a 5-year workmanship guarantee. Phone 07717 790273.

  • Foundations and RC on the plot in front of you, set out to the engineer, not a phone depth.
  • Driveways, patios and paths in standard, stamped, coloured or exposed-aggregate concrete.
  • Floor slabs and repairs quoted after we see access, falls and the existing surface.
  • Dedicated project manager, fully licensed and insured, VAT 429761270.

This is the dedicated Croydon pour page. In addition, the London menu sits on concrete work in London. Wider building, extensions and mixed driveway surfaces sit on our construction company in Croydon page. Structural frames sit on RC frame and formwork. Finally, plant for the dig is booked through operated digger and dumper hire in London as excavation plant, not as a concrete rate.

What this concrete work Croydon page covers

GSMS Construction Ltd is a Southgate contractor (ZERO VILLA LTD, 532 Southgate 5th Floor, London N14 6BN) already working Croydon as a named borough. In particular, the crew pours residential and light commercial concrete: strip and trench-fill footings for house extensions, RC walls and slabs, new concrete driveways, patios and walkways, sidewalks and pathways, garage and ground-floor slabs, and repair or restoration of failed surfaces. Decorative options we actually list are stamped, coloured and exposed aggregate.

However, we do not publish a Croydon pound-per-square-metre for concrete, because a driveway on a Coulsdon chalk rise is not the same pour as a Thornton Heath terrace with a 800 mm side return. Therefore you get a figure after inspection. Email info@gsmsconstruction.co.uk or call 07453 292996.

Pick your job

Tap a panel. Each one tells you what we pour, what we need from you, and the number to call. Then use the quote pack so we price concrete work Croydon against your plot, instead of a guess.

Foundations

Foundations

First we excavate to the structural levels, then we place reinforcement, shutter, pour and strike for house-extension footings, retaining work and RC elements. In addition, the in-house RC frame and formwork crew stays on the job. Operated excavation with a driver is the London digger service linked above — plant rates, not pour rates.

What we need from you: postcode, photos of the side access, and drawings if the engineer has already sized the footings. Also tell us about trees, drains and the neighbour wall.

For a foundation survey, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, use 07717 790273 or 07453 292996.

Driveway

Driveway

After break-out of failed surfacing we excavate, compact a sub-base, shutter, mesh and pour. Finishes include standard trowel or brush, stamped, coloured, and exposed aggregate. If concrete is the wrong surface, block, tarmac and resin sit on the Croydon company page; this page is the pour.

What we need from you: approximate square metres, photos of the frontage and the access width, and whether a dropped kerb is already in, applied for, or not required. Besides that, tell us where rainwater should go.

Ask for a driveway visit on 07717 790273.

Patio or path

Patio or path

Concrete patios, walkways, sidewalks and pathways are poured on the same mix family. Traditional poured, stamped, coloured and exposed-aggregate finishes are the decorative routes we list. However, falls matter more than the pattern, because water has to leave the house instead of sitting on the paving.

What we need from you: photos of the garden or path line, approximate square metres, and the narrowest gate or alley in millimetres so the pour can actually reach the rear.

Book the patio or path survey on 07453 292996.

Floor slab

Floor slab

Garage slabs, ground-floor slabs and commercial floor pours go in with formwork and reinforcement. Finish follows the use: brushed, trowelled or a specified industrial finish. Likewise, levels follow the drawing rather than a voicemail thickness.

What we need from you: drawings or a marked-up sketch, finished floor level, wagon access, and whether a pump is likely because the street is tight.

For a slab quote visit, ring 07717 790273.

Repair

Repair

Cracked, sunken or broken concrete is restored with local break-out, re-compaction, patching, joint work, or a replacement bay when the slab has failed. Repair is cheaper than a new pour only when the ground underneath still works.

What we need from you: close-up photos of the damage, a wide shot of the whole surface, and the age of the slab if you know it.

A repair inspection is booked on 07717 790273 or 07453 292996.

Foundations, RC and Croydon ground

The British Geological Survey describes London Clay as the widespread silty clay of the London Basin. Furthermore, the BGS Geology of London memoir notes that south of the Thames the ground rises across that clay onto the Chalk of the North Downs. As a result, Croydon sits on that change: clay that shrinks and swells on many northern and central streets; chalk and downland ground toward Coulsdon, Kenley and Purley. That is why we will not sell a trench depth over the phone for concrete work Croydon foundations.

House-extension footings need Building Regulations approval. Planning for the extension is a separate question — start with the Planning Portal extensions guide and Croydon Council’s check if you need planning permission page. Once those papers are clear, we set out, excavate, place steel, shutter and pour to the approved drawing. Trees, drains and party walls change the trench. Instead of a chain of subcontractors, the RC crew that pours the footing can stay for walls, beams and a ground slab on the same Croydon extension.

Wet cement is a health hazard, not just a mess. Accordingly, the HSE cement guidance and the wider HSE construction pages set how we handle mix, PPE and the pour. You do not need a 24/7 claim from us; you need a crew that shows up in hours, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

Concrete work Croydon driveways and slabs

A new concrete driveway on a Victorian terrace in Thornton Heath or a 1930s semi in Sanderstead is a formation job first: break-out, levels, compacted sub-base, edge shuttering, mesh, then the pour. For example, we offer standard, stamped and coloured concrete, plus exposed aggregate where you want grip and texture. Similarly, patios, walkways, sidewalks and pathways use the same mix family with lighter traffic in mind. Garage and floor slabs get the thickness and steel the drawing asks for.

We do not print a Croydon driveway pound-per-square-metre. Other contractors publish from-prices; those are theirs. Instead, our number follows the inspection: area, break-out, access for the wagon, falls, and the finish. If you also want block paving, tarmac or resin, that sits on the Croydon company page — we will not force concrete onto a street that needs a permeable bound surface.

Floor slabs for extensions, garages and small commercial rooms are the quiet half of this page. They rarely photograph well, yet they decide whether the room stays dry and level. Consequently we pour them with the same formwork discipline as the RC hub, on the Croydon plot, with a dedicated project manager from visit to cure.

Planning, dropped kerbs and drainage

Planning for a front driveway is not the same as Building Regulations for a foundation. In other words, the Planning Portal paving guide and the government’s permeable surfacing of front gardens guidance are the rules we use. A driveway of any size that is permeable, or that drains to a lawn or border, does not need planning permission. On the other hand, traditional impermeable concrete over five square metres that drains to the road does. That is the official front-garden test. Meanwhile, rear patios sit outside that Portal page.

A dropped kerb is a separate consent. In fact, it is illegal to drive over the pavement without one. Apply through Croydon Council dropped kerbs and crossovers and read the Planning Portal dropped kerbs page. Croydon also requires planning permission for a crossover on a classified road or in a conservation area. Therefore we pour the private driveway; we will not drop the public kerb outside that process.

On clay, falls and a discharge point matter more than a pretty stamp. Direct water to a border, a lawn or a designed soakaway inside the boundary when that is the permitted-development route. We will not tell you an impermeable front slab “never needs planning”. If your frontage is over five square metres of impermeable concrete draining to the road, we pause for the Portal test and Croydon planning before we shutter.

Where we carry out concrete work Croydon

Open a cluster for neighbourhood coverage rather than a cloned postcode grid. These are the places GSMS already names on the Croydon company page.

South Croydon Shirley Addington New Addington Sanderstead Coulsdon Purley Kenley Warlingham Thornton Heath Norbury Upper Norwood

CR0 — South Croydon, Shirley, Addington, New Addington

South Croydon mixes Victorian streets with later infill. In addition, Shirley and the Addingtons add 1930s semis and estate plots. Access decides whether a wagon can stand on the drive or a pump is needed. After that we pour footings, drives, patios and slabs across this CR0 cluster.

CR2, CR5, CR7 and CR8 — Sanderstead, Coulsdon, Purley, Kenley, Warlingham, Thornton Heath

Sanderstead (CR2), Coulsdon (CR5), Purley, Kenley and Warlingham (CR8) sit toward the southern rise. By contrast, Thornton Heath (CR7) is denser terrace streets with tighter side returns. Norbury and Upper Norwood are named GSMS Croydon neighbourhoods on the same run, so send the postcode so we confirm the visit.

We do not advertise a 24/7 call-out. Instead, hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. The crew loads from Southgate N14 and works the borough as a regular Croydon job, not a one-off “surrounding areas” line.

Why GSMS for concrete work Croydon

Most Croydon concrete pages sell one product. This URL holds foundations, RC, driveways, patios, slabs and repair together because a Croydon house often needs an extension footing and a new drive on the same plot. In addition, GSMS Construction Ltd is fully licensed and insured, with over 10 years of local experience, a dedicated project manager, and a 5-year workmanship guarantee on construction, extension and renovation work in Croydon. We do not invent extra accreditations or a square-metre price.

Frequently asked questions

How much does concrete work Croydon cost?

GSMS does not publish a Croydon pound-per-square-metre for concrete, because a Coulsdon chalk rise is not a Thornton Heath terrace. Therefore you get a figure after inspection, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

What jobs do you pour in Croydon?

Foundations and RC to the engineer drawing, plus driveways, patios, paths, slabs and repair of cracked bays. Finishes we actually list are standard, stamped, coloured and exposed aggregate.

Do I need planning permission for a concrete driveway in Croydon?

A driveway that is permeable, or that drains to a lawn or border, does not need planning permission. On the other hand, impermeable concrete over five square metres that drains to the road does. Rear patios sit outside that Planning Portal test.

Do I need a dropped kerb for a new drive in Croydon?

It is illegal to drive over the pavement without a dropped kerb, so apply through Croydon Council. In addition, a classified road or conservation area needs planning for the crossover. Therefore we pour the private driveway only.

Which Croydon neighbourhoods do you cover?

South Croydon, Shirley, Addington, New Addington, Sanderstead, Coulsdon, Purley, Kenley, Warlingham, Thornton Heath, Norbury and Upper Norwood. Send the postcode so we confirm the visit.

What guarantee do you give on a Croydon pour?

Completed construction, extension and renovation work in Croydon is backed with a 5-year workmanship guarantee. In addition, GSMS is licensed and insured, VAT 429761270, with a dedicated project manager.
